

Now when I try to scan, besides the "scanner failed to connect" I also get the message that a required HP plug-in needs to be installed. Anyway, after this 'upgrade', the printer still works but no scanner. I originally had HPLIP v 3.15.6 after installing Mint 17.2 so this seems odd however my printer appears to be an older model so maybe an earlier version of HPLIP was installed automatically. Ii hplip 3.15.2-0trus i386 HP Linux Printing and Imaging ~ $ ||/ Name Version Architecture Description |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend From this forum I found a link to install the latest version of HPLIP after using it the desktop icon is here but this is what I get on the terminal from the command, "dpkg -l ~ $ dpkg -l hplipĭesired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold I installed Mint 17.2 MATE a few days ago with little difficulty including my HP printer worked OK but I noticed that the HP desktop icon was missing & the scanner didn't work When I tried 'simple scan' I always get the message "Scanner failed to connect".
